Student Work

Work produced by students in Kerry Payne Stailey’s workshops over a 4 day period. Some are completed essays while others are ongoing, works in progress.

Feature 1: GROUP SHOW, Art For The Heart, 2019

A small group of photographers and artists from around the world gathered by a lake in mid-coast Maine in September and opened their hearts to me and one another. This is the resulting work of four days of searching, seeking, sharing and creating. I am extraordinarily proud of the work they produced and the stories they are sharing. I am beyond grateful for the trust they placed in me. --Kerry Payne Stailey

Feature 2: BLESSEDLY LOST: DANIELLE AMY + MICHELE BOURGEAU

A sudden loss of a father and a journey to overcome past trauma brought Danielle Amy and Michele Bourgeau together to visualize their process of healing. Sprung from a poem titled “Jerusalem” by Meister Eckhart, both artists created this oeuvre by practicing mindfulness and awakening into the layered beauty of our elements and senses. -- Student work from Kerry Payne Stailey's 2019 workshop "Art for the Heart - Photographing Vulnerability, Telling Personal Stories.” (https://danielleamy.com/)

Feature 3: NOTHING IS BORN, NOTHING DIES: TRACEY TOMTENE

Since losing my mother and brother, I seek to continue my connection with them, while learning to be alive after death. They speak to me with the melodic tremolos of loons, embrace and comfort me through the velvet arms of trees and assert their love for me amidst the intensity of oceans. I cannot see them, but their spirits are there, flittering in the light illuminating a horseʼs tail. Death cannot separate us. Love cannot be dissolved. -- Tracey Tomtene.
